What’s the Difference between a MasterMind and a MasterClass and Why Do I Need One?

You might have heard the terms MasterMind and MasterClass thrown around in professional circles.

And you’re probably wondering what on earth? What’s the difference? You might be thinking that’s all just very jargony and trendy and even a pretense for yet another online boring course without any interaction nor any real substance.

Yes?

Well, as I now offer both, I thought I’d provide a bit of context for what I do in my MasterMinds vs MasterClasses, what to expect from one, how to choose which one is right for you, and ultimately…whether or not you NEED one.

Mastermind (to me) means a small group – typically five-six people – of likeminded professionals working together, sharing knowledge, learning together. Peer-to-Peer, going deep on a topic in an environment that feels more like a group of friends sitting around a table, than a formal course-like situation.  The vibe is warm, trust is high and expertise is shared – all in a safe environment where everyone, regardless of stage and age and experience is respected. And it’s typically very interactive.

A MasterMind is way more than a course, less of an investment than 1:1 or done-for-you program, and ultimately more beneficial because it takes the group “mind meld” into consideration. You are literally ‘mining’ each other’s expertise and experience.

A MasterClass, on the other hand, is more an expert (or two) sharing their knowledge, views and experience on a specific topic, followed by Q&A. Group is typically larger – up to 15/20 people. Yes, the group comprises like-minded professionals, yes, the environment is warm, but there’s way less interaction, less chance to go in-depth, less ‘mining’.

Typically, the pathway is MasterClass then MasterMind then individual, personalised coaching.

What can you expect from a Janie Jordan MasterMind?

You can expect to be challenged, inspired and, most of all, empowered with real-life knowledge from your peers. Anyone who enters my MasterMind comes out the other side saying, “WOW. That was so interesting, enjoyable, so real-life. I learned so much”.  My MasterMinds are designed to challenge you – Yes, but also to teach you, to support you, and most, of all, to dig deep into the ravines of our minds and our shared experiences to be better leaders, to be excellent, empowered professionals.

My MasterMind participants typically want to make a real difference in their careers, in their organisations and in the wider community, are very committed to learning, knowledge and professional development.

You can expect ongoing support and much deeper learning that is way beyond what you’d get in a self-paced DIY course. You’ll also get the additional benefit of the other MasterMind members who are walking a similar journey and can provide help and support as well.

My MasterMinds are between 6-8 weeks and limited to six people with me guiding and facilitating the calls and managing the Trello Board, where we share and reflect. You’ll get additional content, cheat sheets, and other resources meant to help you fast track your success.

Why a MasterMind?

If you’re longing for a customized, meaningful and deep, immersive learning experience where you can share your knowledge, support others and, most of all, gain deeper knowledge and understanding of a topic or area of practice, then a MasterMind is for you. If you like sharing, being challenged and being supported in a safe, peer-to-peer environment, and did I say, fun, then a MasterMind is for you. If you are truly committed to being the best leader you can be, and have a thirst for knowledge a professional development then a MasterMind is for you. MasterMinds are my way of giving back – for a modest fee – and I love facilitating and sharing knowledge and helping leaders be the best they can possibly be. I’d be honoured and delighted to have you join a MasterMind series and invite you to book a Discovery Call where we can chat about your professional development challenges, and how a Janie Jordan MasterMind could help you make a difference.
